From its earliest days, the College has produced alumni who have reached dizzying heights in their chosen careers and left the world a better place as a result. Widely recognized names like Tom ’71 and Susan Manbeck ’72 Corbett, former governor and first lady of Pennsylvania; Charlie Gelbert ’28, MLB shortstop for fan favorites like the St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Red Sox; and actress Marylouise Burke ’62, of Sideways and Wild Canaries fame, all don LVC’s alumni rolls. But some of the College’s less-famous alumni are just as impressive.
You can read about several in the most recent issue of The Valley alumni magazine, and a few more below.
Dr. Thanh Le earned her biology degree at LVC before continuing on to become a doctor. She is now working at Christiana Care Health System in Delaware.
The Rev. Carolyn Winfrey Gillette ’82 writes modern lyrics to traditional hymns that examine the state of our world and the need for social justice reform.
Ret. Maj. Gen. Ross Plasterer ’57 joined the U.S. Marine Corps as an officer and had a storied career as a pilot, eventually reaching the rank of general.
Dr. Charlie Johnson faced adversity at an early age, but used that to become hard-working and resourceful. He now runs his own physical therapy practice.
