Arnold Experiential Grants provide funding for student-faculty research projects in the range of $3,000-$10,000 for up to two years. Arnold Experiential Grants are available to faculty and undergraduates in all disciplines.
Funding for student-faculty research will help with reasonable costs associated with a research project. Funding cannot be used to pay for tuition credits and a grant in the full amount requested is not guaranteed.
Spring 2020 – Deadline November 1, 2019.
Summer/Fall 2020: Faculty/Student Grants & Independent Research – Deadline February 7, 2020.
Awards will be announced on March 18, 2020.
In order to be considered for funding, projects should adhere to the following guidelines:
Number of mentored students (*based on 8 week term) |
Compensation for faculty member |
1 | $1,650 |
2 | $2,475 |
3 | $3,300 |
4 | $4,125 |
Funding will not be awarded for projects that have been funded through two consecutive cycles.
In its deliberations, the Arnold Grants Committee will work to distribute funding across multiple disciplinary areas. Priority will be given to those proposals that most closely align with the institution's strategic priorities.
The results of the project, if successful, should be publishable in a scholarly journal in the field as a book or monograph or as a chapter in a compendium; or, it should be suitable for presentation at professional meetings in the field; or, it should be suitable for performance or displayed at appropriate venues for creative works.
Within three (3) months following the project's conclusion, the faculty project director will submit a final report to the senior associate dean of academic affairs summarizing the results of the project.
Grant recipients may be invited to present at the College following the grant project.
