Prepare to train collegiate, semi-pro, or professional athletes or fitness professionals with a master of science in exercise—sports performance degree from Lebanon Valley College

Meet a growing need for fitness professionals.

Recent growth in the healthcare and fitness industries has created a deficit in qualified sport-performance professionals to train the broad spectrum of fitness levels in today’s population. Lebanon Valley College’s master of science in exercise science—sport performance degree will prepare you to train clients of all ages and abilities, as well as patient populations. Train collegiate, semi-pro or professional athletes, first responders, or fitness professionals.

You’ll achieve Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS) certification before your internship placement, which will promote advanced training in enhanced sports performance, strength coaching, and as a fitness specialist.

Complete the coursework in just one year, or, if you’re working full-time, take courses in sequence and draw on your current work experience to complete your internship requirement. Courses are delivered via seven-week hybrid and fully online classes.

Learn in labs and facilities that rival those at research institutions and medical centers.

LVC is proud to be one of the only colleges of its size in Pennsylvania with a fully-integrated motion analysis system to support this work. Housed in the College’s acclaimed Jeanne and Edward H. Arnold Health Professions Pavilion, the Lewis Human Performance Lab rivals those found in larger academic research institutions, research labs in academic medical centers, and research and development facilities in the exercise/fitness industry. The Lewis Human Performance Lab and accompanying Exercise Physiology Lab facilitate faculty research in areas of human performance and support collaborative student-faculty research.

Career Opportunities Abound

Open the door to work in the corporate wellness and fitness industries, with NCAA collegiate athletes, or alternative athletes such as military, first responders, and masters athletes. Or, use the degree as a professional learning opportunity and reinforce your work as a high school coach or physical education teacher.

We coordinate with major regional health care networks and semi-professional sports teams to place students in internship experiences that align with their career goals. Your faculty, along with career coaches in LVC’s Edward and Lynn Breen Center for Graduate Success, will guide you throughout your internship and career journey.
