The Rainbow Reader

Arnold Research Grant recipients Denis Halilovic ('19, Computer & Data Science and Mathematics) and Dr. Robert Machado (Chair of Humanities, Director and Associate Professor of English) provide a glimpse into their development of the RainbowReader, a new digital humanities application that couples algorithmic forms of linguistic analysis and methods of data visualization to help reveal the ways in which color is used within and across verbal texts. Among its many applications, the RainbowReader aspires to contribute to our ability not only to better understand the social world, but to contribute toward its progressive change.

What Can You Do with a Computer and Data Science Degree? 

Software Development career opportunities are more exciting than ever. The Bureau of Labor Statistics measures the growth in the software job market as double the overall rate. By 2020, it is estimated that there will be close to one million unfilled jobs in the field. Starting salaries in the field average above $60,000.
