LVC’s B.A. in creative arts degree is flexible and innovative. Explore your interest in ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, or sculpture to its fullest. Or channel your expressive skills into professionally focused specializations in art therapy or museum & gallery professions. With immersive courses in studio art and the history of art, you’ll develop into an accomplished artist who understands the power of images.
The B.A. in creative arts is also an ideal double-major for students who want a fuller education in the creative fields, including Audio & Music Production, Creative Writing, Digital Communications, or Music. Want to study art while learning more about the world? Pick up a second major in Global Studies, International Business, or Spanish. The fact is, you can pair the creative arts major with almost any major LVC offers, which means you have unlimited opportunities to pursue all your interests and expand career opportunities.
Specializations
What Makes Art at LVC Special?
- LVC’s Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery presents a range of high-quality exhibitions throughout the year, with loans from major national and regional art museums. The Gallery Internship Program provides students with intensive experience and training for a career in museum and gallery professions.
- The Art Therapy specialization provides educational opportunities for students to work with licensed art therapists at the Lebanon VA Medical Center and Wellspan (Sechler Family Cancer Center & Philhaven Behavioral Healthcare).
- Study abroad for a semester, or spend three weeks in early summer exploring the history of art and architecture in Barcelona, Spain. Led by creative arts faculty, this unique course is open to LVC students in all majors.
- The Studio Art Thesis Exhibition takes place each Spring in the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery and features the work of creative arts majors enrolled in the program’s capstone experience.
My degree has proven invaluable in the development of my career as a museum curator. The Art Department gave me the broad range of knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the museum world. To this day, the faculty continues to mentor me professionally.
