National and international positions obtained by department graduates include policy analyst, Advanced Energy Economy, Washington, D.C.; labour migration project coordinator/consultant, International Organization for Migration, Geneva, Switzerland, and Seoul, Korea; county coordinator, Congressman Charles Dent, U.S. House of Representatives; legislative assistant, Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Harrisburg; Peace Corps volunteer, Albania; assistant director of graduate admissions, Heller School for Social Policy, Brandeis University, Massachusetts; office management specialist, U.S. State Department, U.S. Embassy, Senegal; program associate, World Affairs Council; attorney, Mid-Penn Legal Services; valedictorian, Middle East Studies master’s program, Tel Aviv University, Israel; analyst, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Melbourne, Australia; and international law student, Dickinson School of Law.

Other recent graduates have gone on to graduate programs at George Washington University, American University, Universitat Wurzburg,  University of Maryland, University of San Francisco, and the New School, while others have worked for the United Nations and organizations in places such as Kosovo, Serbia, Thailand, South Korea, China, and Norway.

There are career opportunities for graduates with global studies degrees in a wide range of fields, including, but not limited to, U.S. government, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, research institutes, non-profit organizations, and private businesses. Global studies majors also have opportunities to attend a wide range of master’s, doctoral, and law programs.

Traditional career choices for global studies graduates are jobs in international organizations, such as the United Nations, and U.S. government jobs, including the U.S. Foreign Service, and positions in international divisions of many other departments, including Treasury, Commerce, and Agriculture. Non-governmental organizations, such as the International Red Cross, Amnesty International, and Greenpeace are other options, as are research positions in interest groups dealing with international issues and think-tanks in major cities.
