Common directions of study include preparation for secondary school teaching, graduate school, or for a career in statistics or operations research. LVC math majors pursue a range of careers, often as programmers, analysts, and application consultants. Math majors preparing for work in secondary education find many opportunities. Those with additional course work in economics and business find careers in management—many in banking and finance.
In the past five years, mathematical sciences graduates have attended graduate school at the University of Colorado at Boulder, University of Pittsburgh, and Lehigh University. They have been employed as math teachers in Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Virginia; and have been hired by companies such as AXA, Mercer, Aetna, and Hershey in Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
