Lebanon Valley College students have done very well at a variety of law schools. Over the years, LVC students who have excelled academically have attended Harvard, Chicago, Columbia, Stanford, Washington and Lee, and William and Mary law schools. Alumni are currently attending or enrolled for fall 2019 at the University of Connecticut School of Law, Georgetown University Law Center, and University of Virginia Law School, Drexel University, Penn State Dickinson School of Law, University of Maine, Duquesne University, Villanova University, University of Baltimore, and Widener University Delaware School of Law and Commonwealth School of Law. LVC alumni have pursued legal careers with corporations, government, and in private practice, while a number have entered politics, including Pennsylvania's 46th Governor.

Pre-law Advising

Students should consult with the pre-law advisor well before commencing the law school application process. The pre-law advisor, Dr. Philip Benesch (prelaw@lvc.edu), will help you decide when to take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and which law schools may suit your interests and qualifications. The LSAT is required for acceptance at American Bar Association-approved law schools. The LSAT is administered six times during the year, and it may be taken at an officially approved test center in Pennsylvania. To register for the LSAT, and for the law school Credential Assembly Service, please follow the steps detailed on the Law School Admission Council website

LSAT Prep and Application Process

For many, it will be beneficial to take an LSAT preparation course. The Law School Admission Council, which administers the LSAT, has developed a free LSAT prep program in partnership with Kahn Academy. This high-quality program is free for all students. Visit here for additional information. We strongly recommend that before taking the LSAT students complete PHL 280 Logic, a course required for the Law and Society minor.

In addition to an applicant's LSAT score, law schools will consider his or her GPA, transcript, letters of recommendation, and personal statement. No single major is identified as ideal preparation for law school; rather a broad liberal-arts curriculum is preferred, with courses known for significant reading, writing, and thinking challenges being particularly valued. Please check regularly our News for Law School Applicants page, where announcements regarding law school recruitment events and other pertinent recent information will be posted. Also, please consider a Prelaw internship as you prepare your law school application.

Keep in contact with the pre-law advisor, Dr. Philip Benesch (prelaw@lvc.edu), as you develop your plans for law school. You can also join the LVC Law LinkedIn page to connect with other students and alumni.
