A Flexible Approach to Your Health Professions Career
Lebanon Valley College does not have a set pre-health track: Instead, you'll choose a major that fulfills the application requirements specific to your academic and career goals. Our students often choose to major in biology, biochemistry & molecular biology, or neuroscience because of the close relationship these fields have to medical study, and other options are available.
The faculty-led Health Professions Committee (HPC) advises students as they pursue careers in these fields:
- Allopathic (M.D.)
- Osteopathic (D.O.),
- Medical Technology (M.L.S.)
- Podiatric (D.P.M.)
- Pre-Dentistry (D.M.D. or D.D.S.)
- Pre-Optometry (O.D.)
- Pre-Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
- Pre-Physician Assistant (P.A.)
- Pre-Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.)
The HPC works with students to develop individualized course plans that best support their desired career direction. Further, the HPC monitors each student’s academic progress, provides information regarding professional schools and related standardized exams, evaluates application materials, and prepares students through a rigorous mock interview process.

- The Pre-Med/Health Professions Program is personalized, providing close attention to individual needs. The atmosphere is one of encouragement and personal development, rather than competition with one’s peers.
- LVC’s Neidig-Garber Science Center offers science students laboratory experience with varied research-grade instrumentation and the ability to perform advanced methods and techniques-opportunities not often available to students at large universities.
- All students in the sciences at LVC are challenged to problem solve, critically evaluate information, and apply what they have learned to real experimentation in the laboratory, as well as to their learning in the classroom. These parts of the LVC experience deepen and enhance skills for lifelong learning.
- The Valley’s science faculty are dedicated teachers and scholars, regularly collaborating with students on research projects in a variety of areas. Our extensive research opportunities add to the learning experience, while our process of preparing research findings for presentation and/or publication further builds professional skills that are directly applicable to the career of a future health professional.
LVC’s Pre-Health Professions Committee helped me have a sense of urgency, set goals each year, and wrote letters of recommendation. I knew that I needed a sound education in the sciences… and a good name on my diploma to even be considered to get into a dental school.
