Our religion and philosophy faculty members are accomplished scholars and teachers who are committed to the integration of research into undergraduate education. They have published numerous books and scholarly articles in leading academic journals, and have studied and lectured around the world. 

  • In recent years, our students attended several major international conferences with their faculty. These include the annual meetings of the Society for Phenomenology and Existential Philosophy and the American Academy of Religion in Montreal, Canada. 
  • Students have won awards for the most outstanding undergraduate paper at undergraduate/graduate conferences in philosophy.
  • A recent graduate was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship, the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government. Our Fulbright Scholar spent a year studying in the international utopic community of Auroville in southern India.

 

Student Awards

Mike Ardoline (Physics and Philosophy '10)

Mike was awarded best paper honors at the Raritan Valley Community College Philosophy Conference, in Fall 2009 for his paper "Multiple World's Theodicy," which was developed from a paper he wrote while enrolled in Encountering World Religions. 

Carissa Devine (Religion and Philosophy '09)

Carissa was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship for the 2010-1011 academic year. The Fulbright Scholar Program is administered by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, a division of the United States State Department. Carissa worked with scholars at Pondicherry University in Tamil Nadu, India in her study of the utopian commune established on the ideals of the early 20th century Indian reformer Sri Aurobindo.
