Test-Optional Policy

Most applicants are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores for the purpose of admission to Lebanon Valley College. Strong students who believe that standardized test scores do not accurately reflect the strength of their academic achievements can choose to be considered as test-optional in the admissions process. If you choose to apply without standardized test scores, you must indicate so on the Lebanon Valley College member screen on the Common Application or on the LVC application. Please see below for important exceptions to this policy.

 

Test Score Policy Exceptions

• Applicants to our Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, and Speech Language Pathology programs are required to submit SAT I or ACT scores for consideration into those programs. Click the program name for more information on program requirements.
• International applicants are strongly encouraged to submit SAT or ACT scores if English is not their first language or if English is not the language of instruction in the classroom. International students can find more information about required testing here.
• Students who are homeschooled may be required to submit standardized test scores along with their application.
• Students who do not have access to an official high school transcript may be required to submit SAT/ACT scores.

 

Score Submission

Lebanon Valley College accepts the SAT or the ACT for applicants who want their scores included as part of their application. SAT and ACT are considered with equal importance. If you are unsure which test is best for you, talk with your high school counselor.

During the evaluation process, Lebanon Valley College uses only the evidence-based reading & writing (EBRW) and math portions of the SAT exam, and only the ACT composite score.

 

Superscore

Lebanon Valley College considers the highest test scores received, either from the same test date or the highest score in each section, regardless of the date. This means that the admission committee considers the highest SAT evidenced-based reading & writing (EBRW) and highest math scores or the recalculated ACT composite score submitted, even if they were from different tests.

 

Self-reported Scores

We accept self-reported scores on both the Common Application and LVC Application. Once a student enrolls at Lebanon Valley College, if they submitted self-reported scores during the application process, we will require that official scores be sent from the testing agency or a school official for verification.  Please note that our office will verify scores for all enrolling students, and any discrepancies between official and self-reported scores may jeopardize a student's place in the class or merit aid awarded.

 

Submitting Official Test Scores

Lebanon Valley College admission office accepts score reports as official when they are (1) listed on a student’s official high school transcript; (2) received via email, fax, or postal mail directly from a school counselor, principal, or other school official; or (3) sent directly from the College Board (www.collegeboard.org) or ACT (www.act.org). LVC’s SAT and TOEFL testing code is 2364 and our ACT testing code is 3610.

 

Redesigned SAT

In March of 2016 the College Board began administering a redesigned version of the SAT. Applicants who decide to include their SAT results will not be required to submit the optional written section (SAT Essay).

Lebanon Valley College will continue to accept SAT results from exams taken prior to the redesign for first year and transfer applicants.
