"Carbon Nation" Film Screening
This documentary by Peter Byck introduces a number of ways how the world’s energy requirement can be met. It includes optimistic interviews from business CEOs as well as sustainable energy supporters, while not endorsing a specific viewpoint.

Sustainable Trivia Prize Wheel
Answer trivia questions based on LVC Sustainable Initiatives and spin the prize wheel! Possible prizes include recycled pens, frisbees, t-shirts, and reusable bags.

Recycling Display
Do you often ask yourself, “Is this recyclable” or “Can I really recycle this plastic container, my glass bottle, and computer paper together”? Stop in the College Center to brush up on your LVC recycling knowledge with this helpful display.

John Dernbach, “Acting as if Tomorrow Matters: Accelerating the Transition to Sustainability”
John Dernbach previously served in a variety of roles at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection before he became a Distinguished Professor of Law at Widener University. He is also the co-director of Widener’s two-campus Environmental Law Center. John leads a project, Sustaining America, that reviews sustainable development efforts in the United States and makes recommendations for future action. He also writes and lectures on climate change and environmental law.

Winner of the “Greening the Campus Contest” Announced
Just before Dr. Dernbach’s talk, LVC’s Sustainability Advisory Committee will announce the winner of the “Greening the Campus Contest”. Students submitted proposals on ways LVC can become more sustainable, and were judged based on creativity and project viability. The winner will receive an iPad mini.

Join Dr. Owen Moe, chair and Vernon and Doris Bishop Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, as he discusses "Global Warming and Greenhouse Gases."

"Rivers of Garbage"
Join Dr. Mike Schroeder, assistant professor of history, as he discusses "Rivers of Garbage: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, The Great Atlantic Garbage Patch, and the Lesser Quittapahilla & Swatara Creek Garbage Streams." Afterwards, enjoy a personal tour of the Quittapahilla Creek Garbage Museum with the executive director which will conclude with a fireside chat on the Cheasapeake Bay Watershed.

Sustainable Lunch Hour
Metz invites sustainable vendors to campus during the lunch hour, offering samples and information to students, faculty, and staff. The lunch menu will feature 90 percent locally produced and/or sustainable products. Throughout the week, Metz will weigh all food waste and post results at a later date. Think before you fill your plate!
