A Theater of Things Opens at the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery

G. Daniel Massad, Plenty, 2012, pastel on paper, 22 x 21 1/2 inches, private collection.

A Theater of Things: The Work of G. Daniel Massad will run from Aug. 30–Oct. 20, 2019 at the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery of Lebanon Valley  College. In 2018, the Palmer Museum of Art, Penn State, curated a retrospective of G. Daniel Massad, A Small Radius of Light, that featured signature works spanning five decades borrowed from public and private collections. Borrowing heavily from that exhibit, with generous assistance from the Palmer, this show poses an open-ended question as to the current direction of the artist’s work.

The opening reception for A Theater of Things will take place on Friday, Sept. 6, 5–7 p.m. in Zimmerman Recital Hall of the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

In conjunction with the exhibition, artist Massad will provide a Gallery talk on Sunday, Sept. 15, 1:30 p.m. in conversation with Joyce Robinson, assistant director, Palmer Museum of Art, Penn State, and curator of A Small Radius of Light: G. Daniel Massad, A Retrospective.

A Theater of Things is in memory of Richard F. Charles, LVC vice president of advancement emeritus and former chair of the Suzanne H. Arnold Advisory Council.

Gallery hours are Wednesday, 5–8 p.m., Thursday and Friday, 1–4:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.–5 p.m., and by appointment for groups. Please contact the Gallery at 717-867-6445 or gallery@lvc.edu to arrange a private Gallery talk for your school or organization.
