Dancing to Worlds

A Lebanon Valley College student has qualified to compete in Scotland at the World Irish Dance Championships later this month.

Faith Ishler, a sophomore English major, has been dancing since she was just six years old. She began competing at the age of 11. Last November, Ishler qualified for Worlds at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships.

“I’m excited to compete in my third world championships and travel again,” Ishler said.

This year’s World Irish Dance Championship will be in Glasgow, Scotland, March 24 through April 1. More than 5,000 dancers from all over the world will attend the competition. Ishler will compete against 150 to 200 other Irish dancers, starting March 31.

“I’m looking forward to traveling to Scotland for the second time,” Ishler said. “It’s such a beautiful country that I can’t wait to experience again.”

Currently, Ishler is ranked 41st in the world for Irish dance. She is working hard to prepare herself for the upcoming competition.

“I have practice four days a week for two to three hours each,” Ishler said. “I do cardio and fitness on the days when I don’t have practice.”
