Lebanon Valley College and Candoris Extend eSports Partnership Through Spring 2022

David Shapiro ’99, LVC’s esports director of operations, and Stephan Van Der Ploog, Candoris president and chief accountability officer, announced that the College’s eSports program signed a three-year partnership agreement that runs through the 2021–2022 academic year. Candoris, a Pennsylvania-based technology solutions provider, was the first-ever sponsor for LVC, Pennsylvania’s first varsity intercollegiate eSports team.

The Candoris extension means that student-athletes on the College’s nine eSports teams will continue to sport the Candoris logo on their jerseys, and the company’s banner will be displayed in the competition arena for all practices and matches, the latter which air live on Twitch.TV. The Dutchmen compete on Candoris-supplied gaming platforms using Alienware’s Aurora liquid-cooled computers. They use Alienware’s top-of-the-line monitors that sport 240Hz refresh and 1ms response time. LVC is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE), competing in Call of Duty, Counter Strike, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Hearthstone, League of Legends, Overwatch, Paladins, Rocket League, and Smite.

LVC’s eSports program is quickly growing, adding two sports—Call of Duty and Paladins—this fall. And, in late April, Elliott Kleckner ’18, M’20 (Hearthstone), was named team MVP at the College’s Annual All-Sports Reception. Kleckner, who graduated in 2018 with an economics degree and his MBA in 2019, was also named MVP for the men’s tennis team. He went 4-0 in conference play to help lead the team to the MAC Commonwealth Semi-Finals.
