LVC Chamber and Concert Choirs Will Perform at State Music Conferences

The 2017-18 Lebanon Valley College Chamber Choir

Lebanon Valley College is making a big name for itself with the help of dedicated staff and students in the Music Department.

The LVC Chamber Choir is one of four regional choral groups selected to perform at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) conference at Susquehanna University on Nov. 11. It is an honor and a privilege to be selected to perform at this conference. The application process consisted of sending in sample pieces of the choir’s work to a panel board of directors.

“The ACDA is a professional organization that serves choral directors in all walks of life, whether they are middle school, elementary school, high school, college, community, or church choirs,” said Dr. Matt Erpelding, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at LVC. “They hold several conferences throughout the year, and this happens to be the state conference that we are attending.”

“It is a lovely honor to be recognized by peers for the work that your students are doing,” said Dr. Erpelding. “I am really excited for the choir to be on that stage and that they get to share their music with an appreciative and well-informed audience.  In all, the whole thing is quite humbling.”

This is the first time that the Chamber Choir will perform at ACDA, though the LVC Concert Choir has performed at a variety of conferences, and will take the stage at the 2018 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Conference April 19–21 in Lancaster. The Concert Choir was selected to sing from among a pool of 130 applicants.

November is just around the corner, and Dr. Erpelding is doing everything that he can to help prepare the students for these exciting and prestigious events.
