LVC Program Provides Financial Support for Summer Internships

Five Lebanon Valley College students will gain valuable experience this summer thanks to grants from the College’s Thaddeus Project. The Thaddeus Project provides $500–$3,000 in wages or travel and living expenses to humanities and social sciences students who want to pursue internships. Drs. Louise Stevenson and Philip Zimmerman P'09 established the project to convey gratitude for the educational guidance that their daughter, Lila Stevenson Zimmerman ’09, received at LVC.

This year’s recipients will study music in Brazil, spiritually advise prisoners, perform in theater, learn from a popular nationwide retailer, and comfort families in need.

Music education major Rachel Schulz ’20 will travel to Brazil for three weeks this summer. She will observe music classes, sing in choirs, and teach violin and piano while staying with a music professor in Rio de Janiero. Schulz will work with her host to participate in teaching lessons during her stay.

Nathaniel Clugston ’20, a religion major, will also be traveling out of the area for his internship with the Minnesota Department of Corrections this summer. Clugston will work with the chaplain of the Lino Lakes Correctional facility to meet the spiritual needs of residents. He will interview offenders, develop events, coordinate weekly speakers, and provide spiritual resources.

Mikaela Krall ’20 will spend her summer at the Pines Dinner Theater in Allentown, Pa. A music and English double major, Krall has been cast in two summer productions. As part of her internship, she will also assist in the box office and learn other aspects of theater production and music composing. Krall has aspirations to write a musical and perform in musical theater after graduation.

Paige Bryson ’20, an English major with a minor in business administration, will spend the summer as an intern at Under Armour in Hershey. Bryson will study visual merchandising, talent, and general operations and logistics.

Spanish and history double major Sara Burns ’20 is spending the spring semester interning at Lebanon Family Health Services. Burns, who is committed to volunteerism and service, will greet patients and provide comfort and reassurance as they seek critical community services.
