Megan Schoch ’14 Attributes Success to Her Education at LVC

Megan Schoch is a digital communications graduate from Lebanon Valley College.

Megan Schoch’s undergraduate degree in digital communications (DigiCOM) prepared her for success in her digital marketing career and provided her with important life skills.

“The program helped me become a well-rounded and well-informed business professional,” Schoch said. “DigiCOM allows you to experience a wide variety of areas within the digital marketing field before later focusing on a particular area and really making it your own.”

Schoch currently works as a digital media manager at Dealer Inspire in Naperville, Illinois, where she develops, executes, and maintains digital advertisements for primary clients such as Acura and Honda. She is tasked with keeping information organized, developing A/B tests across platforms, and studying user behavior on Google Analytics to make strategic recommendations.

“LVC provided me with so many skills that translate into my job daily,” Schoch said. “Whether it be from the teamwork, time management, and work ethic that I learned on the volleyball court and in the classroom, or learning the importance of strategy and planning before taking on any project. All these skills have translated into my daily life and career.”

Schoch’s decision to enroll at LVC is attributed to the close-knit community on campus and her father [John ’72] and uncle [James ’76] who are LVC alumni.

“I didn’t want to be just a number in a lecture hall of hundreds of students,” Schoch said. “I wanted to make an impact and get to know as many people as I could.”

During Schoch’s time at LVC she was a four-year member of the women’s volleyball team, where her team won two Middle Atlantic Conference championships, made two trips to the NCAA tournament, and won one Eastern Collegiate Athletic Championship.

“In addition to being part of an exceptionally talented team, I created lifelong memories that I’ll never forget,” Schoch said. “I’ll always miss those away game bus rides, out-of-state tournaments, and post-practice dinners in Mund with teammates that quickly became family.”

Schoch reflects on the fact that being a student-athlete was not always an easy task.

“The balance between being an athlete and a student is a long journey,” Schoch said. “It’s not always easy, but it is most definitely worth it.”

Considering the ever-changing world of technology, Schoch is excited about what the future holds for digital marketing. She recommends digital communications students expand their knowledge as much as possible outside of the classroom.

“The versatility of the digital communications curriculum really helped to shape me into who I am today,” Schoch said.

And, in line with this versatility, LVC’s faculty are keeping the curriculum at the forefront. The program recently added a new major in addition to digital communications—interaction & experience design [I.Ex.D.])—and restructured the department into the Department of Design, Media, and Technology.
