Students Place in Top 10 at National Business Conference

Lebanon Valley College students placed in the top 10 at a national business conference.

Four students from Lebanon Valley College earned top 10 finishes in their respective events during the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) national business conference. Paige Bryson ’20, Adam Reed ’21, Tyler Isabelle ’19, and Bryce Larison ’19 traveled to Baltimore, Md., to compete in events related to accounting and other business principles.

More than 1,800 talented students from across the United States attended the conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in 60 business and business-related competitive events. To qualify for nationals, the LVC students placed in the top three at the state conference against students from schools including Penn State, Temple, and Shippensburg.

At the national conference, Larison earned the highest finish–third place in business sustainability, which included research and a presentation related to his topic. “The event connected with all the courses I’ve taken at LVC, and I would not have done as well if it weren’t for the background I’ve gained from LVC on presenting and researching,” he said.

Bryson, who finished fifth in the project management event, echoed Larison. “While I've never taken a class on project management, many of the questions I was able to answer based on other classes I've taken at LVC. I think this shows that our classes cover a wide variety of topics. The classes also further developed my critical thinking skills, which helped me answer the questions I was unsure of.”

Along with Larison and Bryson, the other LVC student results from the national conference included: Reed in fifth place for accounting principles and Isabelle in 10th place for management concepts.

Reed, who was involved with Future Business Leaders of America in high school, enjoyed the networking opportunities available through the conferences, both with businesses and students from other schools. WebPage FX and Geico Insurance presented at the state and national events.
