Mission: To support the College in its use of information technology and to do so in a collaborative, secure and environmentally sustainable manner.
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is a leader on Lebanon Valley College’s campus in sustainable practices. We believe in sustainability and only purchase Energy Smart servers, RoHS-compliant network equipment, EPEAT Silver or higher desktops, laptops, and printers. We install multifunction devices (printer/scanner/copier/fax) where possible and purchase re-manufactured printer toners and recycle cartridges. We donate previously used equipment, first to non-profit organizations, and then to employees before recycling all remaining servers, computers, network and printer equipment. Equipment from LVC has been donated all over the world including recently in Haiti, Lithuania and Zimbabwe. The OIT participates in all College paper, glass and cardboard recycling programs and recycles packing materials. In addition, OIT recycles out of service or scrap copper wire. We believe firmly in virtualization to reduce power consumption, and have implemented virtualization in all data centers, and throughout many lab environments on campus.
