ALANA and multiracial students celebrate a new academic year

The Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) is a 7-day, pre-freshman program geared at providing incoming first-year and transfer ALANA (African/African American, Latina, Asian and Native American) and multiracial students with a jump start on college life. The program combines peer mentoring, residential living, academic success, and leadership development to assist students in making a successful transition to college and the LVC community.

Benefits of participation

  • Meet and interact with other members of the LVC community such as faculty, administrators, and other LVC students.
  • Participate in events and activities that address topics and offer strategies for successful transition to college life (academic and co-curricular).
  • Become familiar with the resources available to you on campus and in the surrounding community that will assist you during your time at LVC.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to pay for meals/program activities?

No. Meals and program activities are of no cost to the student. Anything additional is the student’s responsibility (i.e. late night snacks, items purchased during shopping trips, etc.)

Will I be moving into my permanent residence hall?

No. Students should bring the items they intend to use throughout the program only.

*For program participants only, there will be a limited storage option for belongings you can fit into an 18 gallon plastic tote.

What is the expected level of participation during the program?

Participants are expected to be actively involved and in attendance at all program activities. The more you put in, the more you will get out of the experience.

Will I be able to move back to campus early?

Yes, all Summer Enrichment Program participants will be invited to move back to campus the day before traditional new student move-in. We will do some programming and reconnect before the start of Orientation.

My roommate is not an ALANA student, can he/she participate in the Summer Enrichment Program too?

Absolutely! The priority population for the Summer Enrichment Program is ALANA and multicultural students, all students are welcome and encouraged to participate.
