Employers seek graduates who are adept at critical thinking, analysis, writing, and speaking. An LVC English degree is proof that you have these skills and will prepare you for a range of careers including journalism, education, publishing, law, digital media, arts administration, theater, advertising, public relations, and technical writing. Recent graduates are working as middle and high school English teachers, photo editors, web content associates, acquisitions editorial assistants, production assistants, social media marketing account managers, and in consumer relations.
You may specialize in literature, journalism and communications, film, or theater, but the basis for all specializations is the study of literature: imaginative, complex, and challenging texts in a variety of genres. English majors take advantage of opportunities to write and publish for the school newspaper, La Vie Collegienne, and our literary magazine, Green Blotter. They also perform various roles with LVC’s popular Wig and Buckle Theater Company.

The Dr. Agnes O'Donnell Scholarship is $5,000 per year and is awarded on a competitive basis to high school seniors who have been offered admission to Lebanon Valley College and plan to major in English.
Through my coursework and participation in student organizations like Wig and Buckle, I learned that I was particularly excited about the business and legal portions of the arts. By the time I was applying for graduate school and jobs, I already had applicable experience in my field from the work I did at LVC.
